Application 2
Material manufacturer
The starting point: A large portfolio with untapped potential
Material manufacturers often have dozens to hundreds of grades in their portfolio. Yet without structured material testing, unified simulation data, and a central comparison basis, much of this potential remains invisible – both internally and to customers and suppliers.
Fully characterizing every grade metrologically also involves significant time and cost. At the same time, customers increasingly expect reliable, comparable, and directly usable material data for their own development and simulation processes. Different data formats, software tools, and data quality levels, however, make seamless digital collaboration across the supply chain difficult.
The solution: MatIQ and StrömungsRaum® as part of your DigitalTwinSupplyChain
With MatIQ and StrömungsRaum®, you bring your entire material portfolio to simulation level in a structured way – and make it available to customers and suppliers through a unified, integrated simulation platform.
StrömungsRaum® can be integrated seamlessly into your brand presence as a whitelabel solution. Your customers and suppliers gain access to a modern simulation environment from your company, where they can run simulations independently and work with verified, comparable material data.
Results are captured centrally and create a unified data standard for all stakeholders. This keeps you in control of relevant material, design, and process data, avoids fragmented data formats, and strengthens your position as a digitally connected material partner.
Step 1 – Import data: Upload master and datasheet values for 50 to 500 materials via bulk upload – optionally supplemented with formulation or filler information. Material analysis groups similar grades, maps key differences, and makes your portfolio directly comparable. This creates the foundation for a central, standardized material data basis that can be used both internally and in collaboration with customers and suppliers.
Step 2 – Minimize measurement effort: The system identifies a small number of reference materials that should be fully characterized. All other grades are reliably derived from this basis. Each material card receives a quality label that transparently indicates its data maturity. This makes it clear which data is fully measured, derived, or still needs supplementation. Your customers receive traceable simulation data without every grade having to be tested individually at higher effort.
Step 3 – Deliver recommendations: For every target application – whether injection molding, extrusion, or a specific customer requirement – the material testing system provides a traceable top recommendation from your portfolio. You decide how much detail of your model parameters is shared externally. You retain data sovereignty while your brand stands out as the provider of a modern, integrated simulation solution.
Your benefits at a glance
- Scalable onboarding: Bring 50 to 500 materials to simulation level quickly and in a structured way – as the foundation for your own DigitalTwinSupplyChain.
- Unified data standard: Capture and compare material, process, and simulation results centrally – instead of working with fragmented formats and isolated solutions.
- Less measurement effort: Fully characterize only a few reference materials and derive the rest reliably with data-driven methods.
- Whitelabel simulation platform from your company: Customers and suppliers use StrömungsRaum® under your brand as an integrated simulation solution.
- Clear market positioning: Systematically compare your grades with standard market materials, highlight strengths in performance and suitability, and differentiate clearly from competitors.
- Well-founded material recommendations: Technically convincing, commercially traceable, and with an indicated quality level.
- Stronger customer and supplier relationships: Customers and suppliers gain easy access to verified simulation data and can make development processes more efficient, transparent, and data-driven.
- Sharper sales arguments: Convince with facts – clear recommendations on grade suitability for specific applications, supplemented by cost, quality, and sustainability indicators.
- Secure data sovereignty: You decide which model parameters and detail information are shared while security and data protection standards are maintained.
